THE EARLY MODERN PERIOD IN ANDALUCÍA

·        THE 16^th CENTURY

Was an important period in Andalucía. The population grew quickly thanks to the discovery of America and also the industry and economy.

Important buildings were constructed during this time period, such as the Palace of Charles V in Granada which is considered to be an authentic work of art.

·        THE 17^th CENTURY

Andalucía and Spain entered into a period of crisis. The population stopped growing due to wars, emigration and epidemics.

Only art experienced a great period of splendor. Thebarroque style of art reached its peak.

·        THE 18^th CENTURY

Andalucía prospered. The population and economy increased again.

Arable farming expanded and was the most important activity in Andalucía.

Industry developed, new factories were built.

New localities were created, such as the Carlota.

Important buildings were constructed such as la sacristia de la Cartuja de Granada and the Palacio de San Telmo in Sevilla
